Apple Seed 03:46
Apple Seed There's a castle silhouetted in an antic light. Can you see it under the silver canopy of night? Even though its walls are crumbled in arcana, It's a seed within the apple of nostalgia. within the apple There's a castle atop the mountain where I was born. From that vista you can see olive trees and distant storms. There, the devils sit on the clouds, spinning the dust below, And the angels shoot flaming apples, their trails aglow. shoot flaming apples There's a castle: ancestral footmen guarding well their posts. Generations: six hundred years living amid their ghosts. I am named Ricardo Manuel Ramos Costa. Like the apple, I fell here from Penha Garcia. eu venho da Penha Garcia

Celtic Eyes 03:56
Celtic Eyes There she is Her Celtic eyes came to rest on the crystal unicorns Strangely, I'm overwhelmed And I take a mental photograph Wouldn't it be funny if this stranger turned out to be the one that dances with my soul forever? Six years of flitting within the fringes of the firelight the undeniable truth but now I'm living in her Celtic eyes like the crystal unicorns Here we are Still as one, and we'll handfast again in lives to come Strangely, I'm still overwhelmed And I still keep the mental photograph Wouldn't it be perfect if this stranger turned out to be the one that dances with my sould forever?

Gilgamesh Paean Gilgamesh Lord of Kullab He was the king of Uruk in Sumeria He saw the deep, and many other things he saw Surpassing all other kings, he was called Gilgamesh Learned and wise He returned from a journey with tales that predated the Flood And he wrote on great tablets his story of bliss and of blood Of bliss and of blood. Gilgamesh Built the great walls And the ramparts and parapets no later king could compare And the Temple of Ishtar is measured at half a mile square It's the land of the rampaging bull who is Gilgamesh Scion of Uruk And his strength was as swift as a floodwave, as violent and hard And in battle he pushed through the forefront as fearless vanguard As fearless vanguard. Gilgamesh Mighty and tall He was two-thirds the stuff of the gods and was one-third a man It was Aruru and Ea who fashioned him with their hands He was divinely handsome was the great king Gilgamesh Who else is like him? His stride was six cubits and thick as barley was his beard There were none who could best him in contests of sword nor of spear His folk cowered in fear. His very own folk avoided going near.

about

All music © Panthea 2010

Panthea music composed, performed, recorded, and engineered by Rikki LaCoste at Black Ambrosia Studio.

Reeling was composed in conjunction with the choreography of Mary-Fleur Hanlon, the founder of Touch of Tartain, a “Highland-Fusion” dance company.

Cover art by Rikki LaCoste. It is a detail from The Fool, 24x48” acrylic on canvass, the first of a series of paintings named Tarot of the Holy Boor.

Last Bardish Dance was one of the first original songs and piano arrangements ever written by Rikki, and is here recorded for posterity.

The ambitious Gilgamesh project is a work in progress. The recording found here is simply a working draft, and the song itself will be the very first track on an upcoming Epic of Gilgamesh CD collection.

This Panthea CD was produced exclusively for Kaleidoscope-Gathering Festival 2010.
